Well one good solid day of rain and I can get the Volare out of hibernation.
Then the fun begins....
Of course the missus will want to just drive it right away
Which means there will be a fire under my ass to get it ready to rock.
Actually I only have stupid things to do to it other than some very minor bodywork.....that being....deal with the spaghetti western going on under the dash courtesy of the previous owner which could easily explain my lack of dash lights.....no rear defrost which I'm hoping is just the switch.
And last but not least...speaker swap.
Lucky for me it's an R11 (music master AM) so I only have to deal with the one speaker.....thank goodness for small mercies....

Almost time for wakey wakey....

Gotta find a nice red Chrysler color with lots of flake.
Are you painting a car or a bass boat?

Chrysler Inferno Red, paint code PEL or WEL, is abso-freakin'-lutely gorgeous. Go find a clean turn-of-the-century Caravan or whatever painted in that color on a sunny day wearing polarized sunglasses. Metallic red with gold pearl, but not a tri-coat. Just a quick shot of what it looks like freshly sprayed and cleared (sorry about the focus):

Looks good from here....
I'll have to bounce that off the boss and see what she thinks....
I think she's shooting for more burgundy-ish but that's also with the light hitting it.
I'll have to my paint guy and make him show it to me.
Thank you Sir!

Check out the Burgandy that they put on a 75 Charger SE.
I had one that was Burg on Burg & Beautiful.

Also they had a Rose Red on the 64 New Yorker that all the Ladies Loved the color of.

That would be cool going for a vintage burg.....
Love that.....Burg and Beautiful.....
I'll have to check out the Rose Red too.
But I really think that car would be an absolute standout with fresh paint
And I'm definitely thinking burg.
Thanks!!

If you're looking to go darker, 1990 Black Cherry (code M9) is tough to beat. It would work with a red interior, too. This is shown on a Talon, but it was available across the board in that era. A friend used to have an M9 LeBaron Turbo, which I think was an '89. Sexy car.

High tech update!! :laughing5:

The missus was getting a little tired of having two crackly oldies stations on her stock am radio but she insists on keeping this thing as stock as possible.
Enter the new age!!
I found her this stock am/fm radio for her for $25
Now she can listen to her favorite 80's station that I personally can't stand.
But at least when I drive it I can listen to my fave classic rock station... :toothy12:

All you need is one of those add-on, under-dash 8-track players and you'll be certified disco.

Actually.....a member was supposed to set me up with the stock am/fm 8-track for that car but I never heard back...so I grabbed that one.
But I know they're out there.
I have an 8-track to cassette converter.....
So to go old to new I can put one of those fake cassettes in the converter with the 1/8" plug into it and run the wife's iPod through all that for her. :laughing1:

With that many conversions and digital music as a source, she'll be back to the crackly old AM sound... :icon_biggrin:

Just get an inline FM modulator and "program" one of the buttons to that frequency. It'll work much gooder.

I always found the cassette tape converter to work better then the FM modulater
I've used a few of em and they always crap out, and the cassette tape always works
was using a cassette tape converter in my 02 town car up till I put an aftermarket stereo in it
