Jack Meoff
Mopar Maniac
If I had a buck for everytime I've heard that I'd be rich.
I talked to a guy last night about painting my Fifth Ave... He looked at my car and said those exact words. I said "I ain't selling so it's all good". I find it funny that because it's an M body as opposed to an A, B or E they automatically assume you're throwing money into the garbage bin....
What they don't understand is I happen to love my M bodies as well as my F and I don't really care about resale because once again....I'm not selling. I'm owning, keeping, driving and totally enjoying them.....and to me they're worth every but as much as the other letter cars. I absolutely love daily driving my Fifth.
I bought that car for $600, probably put in about $1000-$1200 on consumables like shocks, tires, U joints, tune up, etc. So now lets kick in paint, headliner and windshield and we'll call it $4500 out the door.....all in....just for a number.
For that I have a neck turner, totally reliable, incredibly comfortable car with everything done. A new 1 liter gutless disposable jellybean shitbox is what?.... $23,000 out the door?
Add on top of that that instead of having to drive some neutermobile, indiscernible from every other cookie cutter blob car out there.....I get to drive one of the great luxury tanks from the last heyday of great automobiles.....when cars were cars and not "vehicles".....
Oh.....gas mileage?
By my math, having blown $4500 as opposed to say $23,000
That leaves me $18,500 for gas......I'd say I'm coming out ahead..
