Anyone know how to adjust a window on an 80 volare? I recently replaced the roof rail seals and have a bad alignment of the driver side window. There was a small gap at the top, but that went away. However, there is a nice sized gap at the rear of the window. A solid inch or so in length, and there is supposed to be rain for the rest of the week. Don't want to duct tape the window shut again. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

This is from my 78 manual but it's the best I've got.

It still amazes me that you get such detailed specifics on windows and nothing on removing/replacing the a/c compressor; yet great details on rebuilding the compressor.

Justwondering,
In my opinion, I don’t see that description the Captain posted being real helpful (no dis on Captain, for my service manual didn’t give any more details).

I would first have to find what the parts are, then compare to the chart where said parts are located in picture, and so forth - where as a couple of details pictures would be worth a million lectures.
Example, show an arrow to each nut that needs to be loosened. Show an arrow numbered saying Nuts A need tightened once “item 1” is done, then Nuts B need tightened once “item 2" is done. Also showing an arrow on what direction you are trying to adjust to.

I saw what Captain posted then looked my self and shook my head saying, good luck Red Baron.

I will say that adjusting the side windows are SO MUCH easier than say a 66-67 Charger. They have 24 (12 per side) different adjustments - all of which are disturbed when you remove a regulator or glass - and not a single adjustment is fun to do (it literally takes a good 6-8 hours just to do it (correctly). The other 66-70 2 door B-bodies are only slight easier.
The instructions are just as clear (ie, not for novices).

That's because I personally have never done it or have any clue how to. But sometimes seeing what you're about to get into helps.....sometimes. Not always.

I'm just glad you guys are here.
And that you are tolerate newbie questions so well.
My poor manual for the fifth avenue has been severely paged through. Finally had to retape the cover to the body.
Its incredibly useful for some tasks and just a paperweight for others.
But then, I guess they wanted you to go back to the dealer to pay for ongoing maintenance. ;)

I could be mistaken, but I think they figured "once you do it, you know what to do next time" - but could be wrong.
Once I do it, I only plan on doing it that time.

Note: I spent all weekend replacing door weatherstripping and adjusting the windows on my '68 Charger. I will say the car was really quiet afterwards - but I repeat: "I spent all weekend" on it.

Yup ... that's exactly like mine was .. I just rolled up some foam packing in behind to push the rubber out .. and you can't tell I cheated .. but then again mine is far from perfect ... just perfect for me ... lol

Is that rain on your car?
Oh please lord, give me strength to not be envious.
Yeah. If you look on the seal, you will see duct tape residue from the several times it taped the door shut. I had at one point got someone to drive it home before more rain came. I was @ work and didn't want to risk anything, though what could I possibly risk.....

Was it a new seal? Who made it? To me, this looks like a screw up in the manufacturing process. From what I remember, the rubber isn't hollow, and there is a Grove that keeps the rubber from going anywhere? How did you manage that magic trick of yours?

Ok I just had my cordoba window out and back in again. With the door card off loosen the nuts that hold glass in at the bottom, with window up this allowed me to place the window where it fitted best and then did up the 3 nuts that hold glass in.

I have to agree with the manufacturing defect .. you'll see a slit where the soft rubber meets the hard corner rubber, I'm just gonna put some glue or goop on it .. and in the 2nd I pulled the foam stuff a bit so it shows.

Oh and I purchased it from the SuperSoft place advertised here ... on the other car they came from a different supplier(forget who, but have seen the name somewhere in this forum) but their quality wasn't much better .. no separation but poor fit. I didn't have much wind noise before but the outer rubber was crumbling away .. now if I have wind noise at speed I just re-roll the window back up and all is quiet (sorta) lol
Took these on the hottest day at the hottest time of the day ... sry. for the poor quality I can't take this heat .. lol

I believe (if memory serves) the two places that sell them are Metro and Steele rubber (Super Soft). I've been hearing about fit problems for a long time. But it would seem they're the only options.

Since Supersoft advertises here I thought they might, maybe contribute to the forum? I dunno how this stuff works but I assume it's not free to host?? .. and with the wealth of info here, worth it !!!! .. oh and after checking that seam .. it's just the seam separating, not different thickness of rubber?(quality) thanks for the memory jog .. the other door rubbers came from Steele .. they just don't fit right .. there is a lip that is supposed to keep everything tight to the door that I just can't keep in place .. it goes on, just won't stay, so it's there but not tight like it should be.. also the Volare has much less wind noise, mind you the other car has full frame windows and we would fix those by bending the door frame at the top ... I'm a little hesitant to do that for 2 reasons 1, I wasn't very good at it when I worked there 2, if I break this glass it might be impossible to find a replacement.
I've re-read this more than once and it's not coming off like I want it to (sort of rude) .. I don't know how to change it ... sorry if I offended
