Got very lucky on some clean parts when I picked up a 1979 Aspen 4 door parts car. Turns out the more I get into this Aspen project the more ‘little things’ this parts car provides, plus the scrap value in the end.

Nothing better to have than a parts car.

Ok, so this week hopefully I can get the car out for alignment. Going to send it on a flat deck and take the wheel dog dishes off. Apparently there’s a guy really experienced in setting up these older cars at the shop I’m going to. I hope it aligns “within spec”.

Home from up North. Have appointment for Body integrity today. Took the car for a quick ride around the block. Needs alignment bad. Nice to drive it though, I’ll keep you guys updated!

Got the car back today. They couldn’t align it. We did a diagonal tape measure in the engine bay and was out by an entire 1/4inch. That’s how sticky Autopac specs are. So the guy at the shop tells me the front frame needs to be pulled a little bit, couldn’t even get close to spec, the rear tracks a little to the left which could be as easy as loosening off rear U-bolts and giving the rear diff a little adjustment. He gave me a number for a place to do the frame pulling and I know some people as well, will start making phone calls tomorrow. The good news is that a file is started on the car and I do have a chance of getting the car straight and on the road legally. I’m so limited time wise. Working 3 weeks up north and being home for only a week before I have to leave again. Taking the first 2 weeks of June off, going on a annual fishing trip with friends. Might not get back to the car for a while. On another note a close friend has managed to find a 1980 Road Runner on a property. He was told by a guy he works with. We’re going this weekend to check it out. I’ll post pictures.

The rear can be adjusted by shiming the front rear spring hanger! Shim the side that is forward, I saw Chrysler do it on a new 5th Ave...

Ok, so here’s this apparent Road Runner, find out when I get there it just has some Road Runner interior stuff. I would think the seats are from a 1980 model. This would make a good parts car. Buddy of mine and I are probably going to pick it up.
