Saw regular E85 at a gas station yesterday for $1.61.9 per liter. That works out to ONLY $6.13 a U.S. gallon but since the Canadian dollar is only worth .75 of a U.S. dollar it would ONLY be approx. $4.60 U.S. for a gallon of low grade E85. Add another 15 cents a liter if you want ethanol free 91 octane. In this area we pay the highest fuel prices in North America, and I just heard on the news yesterday on the way home from work that THEY have proposed another 1.5 cent increase in the gas tax to pay for transit improvements. Thanks for reading my rant. Don`t get me started on the price of housing around here.

That is ridiculous for a gallon of fuel. No idea what E85 is around here. Out of the hundred places to buy gas I think there's only a handfull that have it anymore. The majority of ones that did, replaced it with ethanol free regular (87). No sense offering E85 if you hardly sell any of it.
Anyways, regular (up to 10% ethanol) is $2.79, ethanol free $2.99/gal. Ethanol free premium (91) is a "tad" higher at $3.39/gal.

I won't even piss you off with housing prices here. Let's just say you can buy a darn nice house for $100,000 and leave it at that.

Regular gas in Calgary is at $C1.249 to $C1.279 (as of 30 minutes ago). That wotks out to $$C4.75-$C4.86 per US gallon. With exchange, it is $US3.61-$US3.70. Note that prices in Edmonton are usually $C.05-$C.10 per litre cheaper.

There is a lot of variation in the price of gas across Canada, mostly due to provincial taxes. Also, taxes, from all levels of government, make up more than 50% of the price of a liter of gasoline.

Paid $1.34 per litre in Toronto the other day. Canadians get a big time screwing from all levels of government on all taxes. If you’re buying gas on the west coast prepare to be bent over more frequently. As far as the govt is concerned Canadian citizens are an ATM machine with no limit on withdrawals.

Doug says he's gonna drop the price 10 cents.

I paid $1.49.4 a liter of 93 non ethanol on Thurs.

Lets see what Doug can do. I hate politicians of all stripes. As far as i can see all politicians excel at stealing, lying and cheating. Having said that he wont have to work too hard be better than the other choices we had.

I'm sure you Canadians get taxed a lot more than we do here. At least that's the way it seems, from what I hear. In Wisconsin the total gas tax comes to 53 cents/gal. that's federal and state combined.

I just bought a couple gallons of 110 race fuel from a station a few blocks from my house and that stuff is $7.99/gal. However, it is "leaded fuel for off road use only". I'm not sure what the tax is on it, since it's for off road only. I THINK it only gets the 5.5% state/county sales tax but I could be wrong. Technically for off road only but I mixed a gallon with a full tank of ethanol free 91 in the Aspen to see if it helps the hot weather, going up hills, light spark knock problem or not. Don't tell anyone. The octane booster I tried didn't do the job:(

And everyone keeps buying SUVs and PUs but the carmakers can't sell fuel efficient vehicles, cars that get 30mpg plus.
I'm old enough to remember the 70s gas shortages, Europe drives smaller cars and we should also. I will have something to pull a trailer as long as I have one but the driver is going to fuel efficient.

Our taxes on gas is 10 cents/L Federal Excise Tax, 14.7 cents/L Provincial Fuel Tax and another 13% sales tax.
So we pay tax on tax.

US gas consumption has been down the last couple years. Pretty much all new cars are getting better mileage. Consumption is not driving the price up. It is OPEC trying to jack us up along with the crooked oil companies.

I`m sure the price would be lower here if we wouldn`t have doubled the oil we export. OPEC was /is trying to cut output to drive the prices up and the US is bumping up export to try and reap the benefits all along while our prices rise here. BTW, that why the oil companies wanted the pipe line so they could export more oil from the US. It wasn`t for our consumption or price reduction as most people thought.

Moan not so much as making people aware of the BS. Not just what they want us to believe. It`s all about the money and always will be. Not gas related but I worked for GE many years ago and they would have monthly propaganda meetings. When they went to lay everybody off and close the plant it was the fault of everyone but them. It was the economy, the consumer and on and on. They failed to tell us the real reason was the profits would be huge by making the SAME product overseas and shipping it back into the US..

When single digit me bought this album and heard the words 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss', I knew it was true.
