General Information
Detail of coil over shock setup.
White 1981 360 CID, Blue 1983 325 CID (bored 0.40). White walls and wire covers have since been replaced.
I have done alot of work on my car, but I worked with the local Chrysler Dealership and we searched for months for specific parts for the J-heads rebuild so that labor AND parts are covered, so nothing had a P at the start of a parts number as we all very well know.....
I used just for oddity sake a rebuilt Dodge specific 1985 non feedback Rochester Quadrajet. It's smoothness is EFI like in manner, but so are the Thermoquads in the other two cars. after next season I will replace with one of my rebuilt thermoquads. The Quadrajet when rebuilt correctly is a good carb but it does "load" if you sit idling with the AC on. And that is with the AC solenoid in operation on a cycling C-171 compressor. In comparison I have no such problems with my '79 300 with solenoid and non cycling RV-2 compressor and I never turn the system off.
Have since been changed to Pertronix Ignition and wiring cleanup.
First air cleaner setup I used.
Final setup I used. Donor truck that supplied the QJ supplied the air cleaner.
This was a shame. A loaded 1985 Dodge Prospector 360. Power everything if you can believe it.
Volvo electric fan and Controller with dual temp sensors cool the motor. ST34 200 amp continuous duty relay powers the setup.
Engine bay clean but not cleaned up. Electric fuel pump has been removed. Didn't need it so why bother.
1981 Imperial with hood ornament changed to the 1962-1975 Imperial Division ornament. Changed it to lie flat and be edge-lit underneath. Chrysler was doing crazy lighting features like edge lit opera windows and over the top lighted roof bands so I had an idea. Got rid of the Crystal Pentastar. Took an old Imperial Division ornament and reworked it to float above the chrome. Used a small LED underneath so that at night when my electric fan that I installed turns on the LED edge lights the Imperial Eagle. Have a video of it in use. I have tried to make this Imperial a slight "what if" if the program stayed with the original timeline of 1981 to 1987.
Coil over shock setup for rear end 2.2 replaced with 3.55 LSD. Older dual exhaust setup but still sounds great.
This forum has some really kickass resto-mods, but I never seen anybody really change an Imperial completely from top to bottom and do it in keeping with its luxury origins. Wanted to create something that Chrysler might have done had the line continued and there hand would have been forced by the 82-85 Eldorado Touring Coupe and the infamous game changer Lincoln Mark VII. In truth all that would've been used is a 318 with 4barrel setup and HD suspension pieces, which it seems I have recently found out is exaxtly what was done in the last months of Imperial production.
Now who the hell would have one of these? And would there have been an A or S code?
