Well I'm finally under way with my 81 ls project. The 360 is together on the engine stand, and I can hardly wait to hear it say "rumpitty,rumpitty,rumpitty..... I want to post pics of my progress, but can't seem to figure out how. don't know what the url ? is ? Any help would be appreciated.

Engine, trans, k-member removal. Not going for a full repaint of engine compartment, I think it will clean up nice.

Modoba 360

Heres the engine: 71 360 40 over 484 cam flat top pistons edelbrock intake rebuilt thermoquad 1 5/8 headers . Going for a semi factory look. Made my own dual snorkel air cleaner by taking the snorkel from the 318 and welding onto the 360 air cleaner. will add fresh air hose an passenger side later

Everything looks great, I'm liking that 360 too, curious to see how it runs. How did you build the bottom end, factory, after market, did you balance it, what converter, and gears.

Engine was balanced with sfi flex plate and neutral balance converter. I have a 904 lockup trans but not sure which way to go on that yet. Also have a 3.55 suregrip 8.25 rear that will more than likely be going in. Car still has 2.2 8.25. I'm going to dissassemble k-frame/suspension to replace any worn parts and refinish components. After installing engine/trans and working out any bugs, I'll move to the rear-end

It's been 20+ years since my last car project ( 440 mirada ) I forgot how much work it was, but I'm still like a pig in the mud !!

Great job, cool car! I'll be doing the same thing in a few months to my front end.

Here is the engine compartment degreased, and spot primed. Was planning on just touching it up instead of repainting. What do you all think?

You MIGHT get away with the spot repairs, but more than likely you wont. It may end up being spotted looking...
