Project Bulldog. (1988 Diplomat AHB)

I have brand new in the box voltage regulators if you need one. You can have it for the cost of the ride.

If you change the color then to do it right you need to paint the jams, under hood/truck, everything. Gets to be very, very expensive.

in all honesty it'd probably become a rattle can special. we used to have a deal with a local Maaco who painted the County Police cars. that good old flaky Crown Vic white. but boy, that was years ago.

i have a few regulators laying around. not pretty looking but they work. with stuff stuck to the back i have to pick off... know how to put the windows down on a Dip in the junkyard with power windows? going up tomorrow to get the ventshades off a Fifth Ave

how'd it go with quarter panels?
ended up buying some off a guy on facebook in the end. junkyard fiasco just wasn't going my way. i'd have fooled around and been a few fingers short if i kept going at it. the trunk on that car wasn't coming open and i didn't want to drive home 50 miles to get my drill.

they're a little bit rusty but far better than what was on the car. it's manageable. shipping was $$$. gonna weld patches on them and hopefully get em on the car soon. worst part is they're off a Fifth Ave so that little rearmost trim piece is there. i don't mind i'll grind them off. some small rust is better than the whole floor being gone. i'll get pics soon. came with one nice wheel arch trim that WILL NOT COME OFF. those screws are stuck.

luckily my doors and fenders aren't eaten through. got the open spots sprayed with rust reformer for now.

say @AMC Diplomat you're from the Buffalo area right? word on the street is there is a Lebaron A38 in a shipping crate up by Dunkirk. was used in Gone in 60 Seconds 2 before the director died. bunch of other Police cars up there. oh how i wished i had room for another turd bucket

Never heard of a Lebaron in a shipping crate. Or some mystery lot full of police cars.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Here it is in the movie though.

it's in some private HB Halicki fan group. apparently his son is selling off the collection of cars and according to my source, doesn't want to crush. sounds kinda sus because shouldn't such a thing be public? maybe more details will come through later so i won't say nothing.

though if they offered me that Lebaron. might trade old Bulldog in...

as long as they don't ask stupid money for them, they'll sell.

but if they've sat 30 years in this climate... Jesus Christ, they're basically all rollers, there's no way any of those engines are any good

They'll be fine. Would be interesting to know if they're AHB or dressed up normal ones and more about them.

I'd be worried about cracked blocks and rusted valve trains.

I don't understand the secrecy though. There's only a limited market for these. You'd think they'd be happy to get rid of them.

I've never known there to be an A38 Lebaron and the car next to it is painted fire department red with TRAFFIC on the side. They probably grabbed whatever M was in sight and dressed them up.

sorry to keep posting up in this thread about the mystery cop cars. They're out of their minds if they think they're worth anything.

The best example I've seen in the last couple years went for 6 grand. There are probably a couple of enthusiasts that have museum quality restorations they spent too much on that would go for around 10k at auction

But these have been in a trailer and are in much worse condition than one that sold at Mecum this year for only 3 grand

As long as they weren't running water in them and they didnt spend time outside with the enginea open to the elements there shouldn't be problems. The oil and sludge is great at preventing rust.

They're probably delusionally thinking they're sitting on a fortune like they were main big movie or TV cars.
