Project Bulldog. (1988 Diplomat AHB)

sorry to keep posting up in this thread about the mystery cop cars. They're out of their minds if they think they're worth anything.
don't feel bad. i could talk cop cars all day if i could. i've only known of one other currently existing A38 Lebaron. it's somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. there were two others that were scrapped recently.

one in Ohio and the other a sad story.
the NYPD keeps officer death cars on a lot (heard of the Eddie Byrne car?). an 81 Lebaron sat on their lot for around 30 years before being scrapped around 2011.

NYPD currently has a Lebaron police car clone as a museum car. but you can tell it isn't real by the infamous window sill trim. otherwise an amazing clone. likely used parts from RMP 1012

Looks like the website visitor took them. Someone also literally copied and pasted a lot my info into the Wikipedia page.
what's your website? this other site popped up on a google image search for "nypd lebaron"

I really enjoy seeing the pics and info on the police/taxi cars because there is so much to learn. I used to be a bit disillusioned that police/taxi parts made our cars into super cars but then looking at the department reports of the maintenance and failure rates of parts. And really how many of us actually have hurt oem std. parts since most dont beat there cars like Rosco chasing the Duke boys? At least for the Fs many of the std parts on sedans are listed as HD parts on the coupes and interestingly the higher end F sedans that have the options that add weight seem to of gotten more of the HD coupe parts.

But I still find it fun to hunt them and use them since I like oem type parts or at least look eom.

so when leaving work sometimes, i like to flash the high beams through the front glass to say bye. it was then i noticed something.

um what?

anyways oil leak has.. lessened.
gonna try and get the heat working. when the fuse is in the AC control, it won't turn off. even if you push in off. gonna try swapping out the controls. it at least blows.

he's been a decent driver. no word from Safelite. crack on the windscreen just gets bigger and bigger. maybe the junkyard in Mt Airy will take the windscreen off that Fifth Avenue for me? i heard there is a place in Virginia selling windshield glass for these too. might go that route once i get my refund.

Looks like you have your high beams and low beams swapped

You need to escalate the problem higher up the chain with safe light. Otherwise they'll just wait until you go away. It honestly sounds like they bullshitted you until they think they won. I wouldn't have left the shop with that broken windshield. This has been going on for months and you have to be more assertive about it. Take them to small claims court if you have to. In NY we have district court law libraries that'll help you file a claim.

gonna complain to the BBB

in other news. the car smells like burnt popcorn. we fixed an oil leak at the timing cover but it now seems to be leaking dirty water? not bad leaking, just drops but he's smoking and really stinks. water pump? the AC nor the heat don't work i know that.

i hate to say it but it almost looks like watery oil. on the dip stick oil is nice and clean. what leaks is dark brown and watery. he leaves a cloud of smoke behind him but it's also really cold here. i saw smoke under the hood that quickly dissipated. driver's side near the valve cover.

i might need to adjust my radiator hose. seems a little loose at the thermostat. a little damp there. i'll see if that get's rid of the smell.

what's leaking isn't antifreeze I'll tell you that

Your thermostat and/or water pump is bad and you're seeing the rusty coolant from the block force itself through the old seals as the car heats up.
