Hi Guys,

I am not sure if you know but down under we have cars called "Holden" made by GM. They are Australian designed & built (until 2017 after 50+ years they are closing the doors) I have just bought one as my everyday driver and my Cordoba is my summer weekend driver. Anyway I would like to share a few photos to see what you think. My one is a 2003 model. Before you give me a hard time for owning a GM just remember I live in New Zealand, we are right hand drive here and Chrysler until recent times did not make RHD cars. Just to give you an idea a 2008 300c V8 63,000 miles $24,000 I bet they are not that expensive in the USA.

I have added the wheels, boot spoiler, L67 Badges.

What's good about this car - Its rare wheel drive, this one runs the 3.8 Super charged V6 so when you pop the hood it looks like an old muscle car engine under the hood. Check out the 0-100 run I did or 0-62mph its about 6 seconds and it was stock when I made this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdrp8RHN3XY&feature=youtu.be

See You
Bruce

There was a Pontiac rear wheel drive sedan sold here in the last years of the Pontiac brand's existence. It was called the G8, and was a Holden car; they brought the basic bodies/chassis here, added drivetrain, interior, and exterior trim pieces. Came in a number of trim levels, including a very powerful V8 (6.0-6.2L V8, somewhere over 400 HP). It may have been built from the same body/chasis as your car.

GM had the 3.8L Supercharged for many years in North Amecrica. and were in pretty widespread use (Chevy, Buick, Pontiac for sure, maybe Oldsmobile too). My daily driver is a 2006 Monte Carlo SS, which has the aluminum 5.3L V8 (based on the small block Chevy). However, the year before, that same model car had the supercharged 3.8L V6. Front wheel drive in my case, though.

P.S. That is the supercharger I was talking about in the post that talked about getting more performance out of the slant 6.

The last GTO was also a Holden. Both the G8 and the GTO were based on the Holden Commodore (4 Door-G8)/Monaro (2 Door-GTO), although I think the Holden platform used for the G* was a later generation.

If you have ever watched the Australian V8 Supercars races, you see (or apparently used to see) a lot of Holden race cars. It is sort of NASCAR stock car type road courses, except you had to know how to turn in both directions, delete the Southern accents for Austrailian ones, and you are there. The fender banging, if anything, is/was a lot harder, and happened more often, than what you would see in NASCAR. Some of the tracks are really, really tight.

Those G8s are AWESOME... They are very favorably compared to the BMW M5s of the same era. If you find one, they are a performance bargain! Also of note, the current Chevrolet Caprice police package -- it's also a Holden under the skin.

Not to point out the obvious, but Brucenz has a Cordoba. As for the Holden sites not having anything about FMJs, does that really matter? Brucenz has something that isn't seen in North America, and that some may find interesting. I would bet that >90% of "car people" in US/Canada don't even know that Holden exists, or is/was part of GM.

I don't see what the harm is, if found it a nice change of topic.

There is no harm in it at all.
I've never seen a Holden either and although it's not necessarily my cup of tea it is interesting.

Its become obvious my post of a different kind of car and it appears I am not allowed to talk about other brand X cars even though I do own a 1983 Cordoba, can the moderator please remove this post on my behalf, I did not intend to offend anyone.

Thanks

Holden was the only division of GM that could build a car worth a poop. I don't think there is anything wrong about sharing your non-mopar daily driver in the general section, it does give perspective on what your expectations from a car are. It is also unrealistic to expect you to have a mopar dd being that right hand drive mopars have been in short supply down your way for quite sometime.

I owned a Mercury Sable for a short time, was my wife's car when we got married. That thing was a colossal piece of pig feces.
