I will have to wait for the right weather conditions, and even then, I don't know if it is possible. Sun has to be at exactly the right angle for the refraction to take place. When the weather gets that cold again, I will try, though. Here is a link that better describes how they happen:

I have only seen them in Calgary, and it has to be quite cold, and a clear, or relatively clear day, or the sun won't be bright enough to make them appear.
I remember seeing them while riding around with my god daughters. The little one, 4 at the time, says "look at the rainbow". I told her its not a rainbow. She said "yes it is, I can see it". I then pointed out that it wasn't raining, and told her about sun dogs. I have seen both single and double sun dogs (I have also seen double rainbows).
You know one thing, though. It is really, really cold when you get sun dogs. Cold enough to freeze the humidity in the air.
