Dry rot is usually the biggest problem with tires on a drag car, check your fronts there on the car.

the track is 45 minutes from my place. i trailer it there.

i checked the front tires very carefully, and they are good to go. i also had another set of eyes looking at the same time just in case in missed anything.

That's great, the rears get replaced every couple of years or so but the fronts don't. One of buddy's that we just put slicks on I got looking at the fronts and they were cracked the full diameter around the tread. He said that they had been on the car when he bought it ten years earlier. He had put six sets of rears on in that time.:)
We ordered a set for the front.

we looked very close with 2 lights to make sure they are good.
i picked up a few things tonight.
driveshaft safety loop (already installed it)
5 point harness
roll bar padding
it's getting very close now. i won't have much time now to work on it, as i'm going to be out of town for work.

WOW! You've been busy since the last time I've been on here. I'm really gonna miss that 79 R/T you had but this is strictly track performance. You say the car is from Stratford, so was mine and we only have 3 tracks in this area. Grand Bend closest to Stratford but can't believe that ever passed inspection! The other 2 are Cayuga (NHRA) and St. Thomas which it may have raced at. I'll check my old pictures to see if i have any of it at the tracks as it does loo familiar.

what i hope to run off trailer is just a guess. roughly 400-430 HP at 2700 lbs race weight.

i'll be happy if nothing blows up and i can make a few passes this year.

What gears do you have?
With the car so light you would think high 10s would be possible, but the gears will determine how quick or how fast the car is. Good luck looking forward to herring about your adventure.

I just looked on my moroso speed power slide rule and if you numbers are good 10.75 is projected but I've always thought it was a little generous. But you will find out.
