It is sad, as an auto tech I've seen cars and trucks get scrapped because of excessive rust at way too young an age. Just recently it was a 2006 Toyota Tundra,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,box half gone and the frame close to rusted right in half (came in with a poor handling concern, lol). Starting to see some vehicles as new as 2010 with rust holes starting to bubble through on the rear wheel lips and rockers. Have seen more than one mid 2000's Crown Vic get hauled in with the lower control arm rear bracket rotted right out of what used to be a frame. Hate to say it but the mid 2000's Ram's have a major rust problem over the rear wheels. So many have gaping holes in what used to be a fender lip. It just isn't right.

Cars are grotesquely disposable now.
I'm sure Chrysler never thought a 28 year old Fifth would still be driving around either but nowadays people cash in their ride in five years or less....this is now the norm.

It's supposed to nosedive like 35° overnight.
You can actually see the cold front coming.

That picture is a lot of what is called the "Chinook Arch". which means a chinook is on its way. Precursor to warm weather coming, and also sudden pressure drops that reault in my head wanting to explode. Normally, they last about 10 days, but this year, they have gone on as long as 3 weeks. Weird weather out here (in a good way), very weird weather out east (in a bad way). I personally think this is pretty much par for the course for Canadian winters, but the global warming whack jobs are going to start to claim it is all due to global warming.

Kostas

P.S. I don't know if anybody caught some of the reports out of the recent Global Warming conference. The Canadian Representative for the IPCC (the UN's Intergovenmental Panel on Climate Change (i.e. the sky is falling group)) siad, and I am not quoting, that climate change is normal. Even if there were no human beings on the planet, the climate would be changing; it is the way the planet works.

Don't even get me started Kostas...
I've been shoving that turd back down the tree huggers throats for years now.

How exactly do they figure they're going to stop or even control planetary evolution?.......the answer?
You can't.

If you live in Canada, you sort of need to understand that winter is not going to be easy, or warm, and there will be snow. Its sort of living in a trailer park in the Tornado belt, eventually, you will fully understand why they are called mobile homes. You make your choices, and deal with the consequences. Canada has brutal winters, yet people still live here. You live in Arizona/Texas/New Mexico, you are going to have to learn to live with heat; you live in Florida, you are going to be rebuilding your house every X number of years.

So true....
Plus up here in the great white north we get differing types of brutal winter. Our west it's a dryer cold but with temperatures that people in the south can't believe humans can survive.
Here in Ontario it's a lot more damp and the past few years we've also been getting the Siberian type cold....
Our east it's traditionally not as cold but the storms are unprecedented.....but like Kostas said....you get used to it.
It's just part of the package.

A glorious make you want to put a nail gun to your head -10°F here this morning. I've really come to despise this winter. It's actually maybe....just maybe going to warm up to the high 20's by Monday....

Global warming,,,,,,,,,,,,,,maybe at the equator?
Was "only" down to -16F this morning. Perfectly clear sky again but the blinding sun doesn't seem to be doing much for the air temp yet.

One guy I work with lives a few miles outside the valley and said it was -28 yesterday morning at his house. Freaking brrrrrrrrrrrr. At work yesterday I think I saw the thermometer show +8 at one point. Not so bad (sarcasm), the average high is low 30's so.............................Wait a second, that's worse than bad,,,,it sucks.

At least there's only about 8-10" of snow on the ground, unlike last year when I had close to 4 feet in my front yard. Snow a foot higher than the bottom of the living room front window. Now THAT sucked!

Up here we were without power with at least another 15,000 Residents. Not sure on all of them but we got ours back after waiting 7 days. Has been a long time since I have had to rely on taking a bath from a kitchen sink and cooking food on a kerosene heater. Not one of my favorite things to do but we survived up here in the mountains. I have never seen so many trees and power lines down in my entire life time. Worse weather I have seen in 20 years without a doubt here in TN. Glad we have power now. Around here looks like a tornado just destroyed things not a ice storm. Wife said she has never had a hot bath feel so good even without the bubbles Lol.

I guess we have perfect weather considering what the rest of you guys are dealing with. . couple of cold-ish days around freezing and raining now at 64 degrees. I will take it!
