These Mirada's and probably Cordoba LS's are deceptively small.

Also, are there any other intakes 4bbl LA or Magnum that will work with A/C? I know of only two; Performer and Stock Boat Ancher.

Those are the only ones I know of unless you go aftermarket a/c and/or fab new brackets.

:angryfire: What an F'ed up weekend...lol. 8 1/4 arrived. Imediately saw the stop sign shaped cover.....the monkeys sent a 7 1/4. Refused delivery. Soooo I called a yard in Spokane with a pictured and verified 8 1/4 from a '93 Cherokee. So I will be going with the old style spring set up. Contacted a welder down the road to get the Cherokee perches and shock mounts cut off. New perches and shock plates are in bound from mancini. E-body HD's and extended front hangers will be ordered in a couple weeks.

Nothing can be simple.

Wasn't a total loss. Did get the mini starter in and 2 of 3 gauges in.

I was going over some photos of the Mirada, though. Noticed the exhaust valve springs dont appear stock on the upside down rocker shaft photo I posted. No rotators. I may pop a couple off and get the specs on them. Thinking about a cam as a side project. I can just see the roll eyes starting from the other half.

Gauges are hooked up, Oil pressure is 45-50psi at idle and 21" of steady vac.

Set timing @12 BTC 700 rpm.

The weather is a warming out here. I find as I get older I'm more solar powered and don't like wrenching on cars in the winter.

Hi,

I participated in an EZ-EFI (1.0) install on a 1951 Mercury with a 350 Chevy. Install went well, took about 2 days. It actually goes together pretty easy. We used the master kit, which includes an in-line fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. Tuning was easy (base tune is a little bit rich, leaned it out to about 13.8:1 from the initial 13.4:1), and the car runs really well. It is not my car, but owner seems to be very happy with it; instant start up, and great driveability.

All that being said, I don't know that the EZ-EFI, in eiither form, would be the way I would go. Quick Fuel has brought out the QFi unit, and it not only provides the fuel injection, but can also control the ignition, eliminating the need for an ignition box. Even more of a help in our cars (the ones with the Lean Burn/ESA system), the QFi sytem needs to have mechanical and vacuum advances locked out, which is perfect for our cars, as the distributors in our cars don't have any in the first place. As well, Quick Fuel is also compatible with ethanol blended gasoline, which the EZ-EFI 1.0 is not. The QFi is a few hundred dollars more expensive.

Thanks for the info on the other system. I'll look at it and research. I have time, target is the second half of the year for the system on the Mirada.

The EZ was one of the systems I looked at. Decided on the Edelbrock E-street EFI with the Aeromotive in-tank Phantom 200. I could probably save a couple grand not injecting it, but what fun would that be. The 625 cfm Street Demon (SD) does very well on the Mirada. Easy to tune nice throttle response, but I want the Mirada injected.

The 7 1/4 will do fine until I start on the Mirada's engine next year. I don't think a stroked 318 (Hughes Kit) with a 7 1/4 rear is a good match. The 8 1/4 sitting in the garage will also wait right now. Beside I have a line on an SG carrier for it and 2.94's are easy to find in stock.

EFI/Phantom system

As soon as I can get some dry clear weather for a week, I can finish the clear coat on the Aspen's engine bay. I ran out of time last year and wasn't going to chance it. Too much moisture in the air up in in the Pac Northwest when the weather turns. To get the Aspen moving under it's own power is a matter of starting to put parts back on. The engine gets sent to the shop in April.

One car torn down at a time...lol

Wouldn't it be a better option to buy a 318/360 magnum and a megasquirt ECU and you will be in business, you will have an engine with better heads, better compression and one thing is the roller cam, you don't have to worry about zinc additives for your oil. Just a thought and one I am thinking about. They must just about give 318 magnum engines a way over there!!

I am not advertising for these guys, these are the prices they gave me, for a MS2 or MS3, MS2 will run the engine ok, the difference I think was the MS3 can fire the injectors sequential and the MS2 batch fired them. You don't need the wide band 02 sensors if you are going to get a tuner to do the final tune as they will have one to screw into the exhaust and monitor the mixture.

So lets say engine for a good one from a junk yard $500 and MS2 at $476 and a tune $150?? you are all go for less than the injection system with an engine capable of making more power than a LA engine.

The stand by engine (for the Mirada) in the garage is a 318 magnum I picked up a few years ago. The block is the only thing that will be used.
