Over the years I have put together more than a few combinations that have worked well. I thought it would be nice to have a place that we could add builds, technical decision or opinions without getting into someone's build thread. I intend on sharing dyno sheets and build details on a 455 hp 289 Ford, 520 hp 440 Mopar and a 645 hp Mopar.
I pick my own cams, port my heads on the Mopars and get the best parts I can afford. I have empty pockets. Lol
I'm looking forward to what everyone else thinks about my junk and idea.
Thanks Tom

I'm going to start with my 292 cube Ford , I know it might be bad to talk about a Ford in a Mopar site but I feel like you should know what can be build.
292 C id
9.7 cr
560 lift 248 @ .050 lift
363 gram pistons, custom
Forged NOS 289 crank
I believe that it's a gt part form the 60s!
RHS 200CC heads, a large head.
I will find all my dyno sheets and post but here is taste. It makes 400 ftlb at 2800 this motor is na but was built

for boost, 8 to 10 pounds and e-85. One pull is a 600 dp Holley and the other a 750 Demond.

You have to note how FLAT the torque is, it's 2800 to 5800 400ftlb.

This car is 3000 LBS, 3.73 gear with a 2800 rpm converter = fun.

I had three carbs on this on the dyno, the last one was a 850 race carb from my Mopars and the little Ford made the same power as the 750. We determine the intake was the restriction, an Edelbrock air gap twoplane witch supported all that torque was holding back horsepower.

As a note in my builds I do not use hydraulic cams or roller cams for several reasons. The first is that I have..... I find the aftermarket roller cams have problems and hydraulic roller cams have more......at least retrofitting. AND COST
I use nitrated solid flat tappets from Comp, no problems.

One thing I forgot to add was the little Ford has a stock rod length of 5.155 and I used a rod length of 5.4, this reduces the piston size and side load reducing parasitic power loss. Rod stroke ratio of 188.

Wow, 48 hours and No negative comments! I must be on the correct site.
I can't find my dyno sheets for the 452 so I'm going for the big dog.

I like the idea of having a sub area of this thread for “known builds”. Our brother forum boards do have them (FBBO, for example).

I have builds needing more $ to complete and would like a place to put the data (when I get there).
Will check on getting that done.

Nothing about you, but when person A says he “has” 750 Horsepower, I think, OK – good for him.
When person B posts a dyno sheet showing 650 Horsepower (or whatever) and what he did to get there, I’m a lot more impressed and eager to look at all of the data.

915 heads!
E-85
This 440 was built in 1992 by a great friend of mine, in 91 Mopar had offered a 4.15 crank, it took a year to get. I used 600 gram Ross pistons and a set of stock rods that had been bushed and polished. As shakey as that sounds it was good for 7200rpm. This motor has been updated three times over the years it now has H beem rods, the smallest cam it's ever had in it and a 950 cfm e-85 carb. The heads are as far as I can take them, I know you can't make power stock heads.......

Looking good!

I noticed the form was printed 20 years ago. Any changes to engine sense then?

Any pictures of your car (or anything) somewhere?

One thing we did was back to back e-85 and race gas pulls, e-85 numbers were about 20 higher in torque and hp.

At the time 1992 this 440 was first put together an aftermarket head was not an option for me. The B1 was was avalible and that was about it. Not having the cash for them or max heads I came up with a good pair of 915s, at this point thay are 67cc with 2.18 / 1.81 Manley valves, Comp springs etc. and Harlandsharp rocker asm. and Smith pushrods. Heads were ported with the templates originally but have had more work under intake valves.
I use a old M1 or a Victor,
M1 made a few more points in torque and the Victor a few more in top end hp. I use all MSD distributors in my junk and the 500 has Holley XP 950 e-85, a supper carb!

If I was to pick a head for this setup today it would be the new TF 270, I'm giving up a 100 hp using the old iron heads.
