One other thing on this motor and my 452 the guys that dynoed them used a box hooked to a spark plug hole and measured compression as motor was rotating, and it gave a compression ratio of 12.2. Apparently this is a tool that racetracks use for classes that require a certain cr..

My 452 came out to 9.5 but the box said 9.1, it has a Mopar 557 cam.

If I was to do a different cam for the 500 I would give it 6.25 lift and a ten degree centerline, the numbers are ok but could be better.

I can build HP but tech I struggle, Ok?

I got a new phone a month ago and wanted to make sure the grandson new how to make a call with it, the six year old took it from me, downloaded six games and never blinked.
All while showing me how to dial a call.

Not quite 10 years ago, wife and I adapted 16 month old twins (who turned 11 a few days ago).

My wife is the computer expert (runs the IT dept. at her work).
I used to be the “play games on computer” expert at home, but kids knocked me off of that pedestal some time back.

Now when it comes to cars, I’ve tried to get them to help me on minor projects – to teach them even the little things, and “poof” they disappear.

I'll be close to 60 when they graduate high school.

I'll be 65 when my triplets graduate, they turn 12 next week, I'm fixing the Volare for them, but only one really wants to help.

Gasp, triplets!
I thought having one of each sex, might help – but no.
The kids won’t stop trying to kill each other until one is on ground and bleeding (well maybe not quite).

Both already think I’m going to give them my wagon when they get of age.
Hehe, nope.

The grandson is my motivation on the cars, he loves to go to the strip. But he is a biker wantnabee, I took him to Humboldt Co Raceway on July 4th in 2016 bike drags and he was hooked.

Of my six yes six kids only one daughter got into racing, I started her on and 1/8 mile track but she liked the 1/4.
She ran the Fairlane with a stockish 289, 3.80 gear and c4 that shifted at 6200 and 5400 in drive.
That was when she was 16 and 17 , now she has a master's in special education a big job and a three-year old. A picture of her heating the tires at Cedar Falls hangs in my living room.

Mopar people are you intmeinad by the 14.0 or the 99.0+ mph.

It's the 99 mph that should bouther you. My little 289 , yes stock bore, ran a 14 flat @ 99 mph, go figure.

Alcohol doesn't have the same amount of BTUs that gas does so more is needed, also it runs cooler.

I can't remember for sure, I can look on Monday but it seems there is a 106 jet in the secondary with no power valve.

My biggest reason for e-85 is cost of race gas at 10.00 per gallon and e-85 is less than 2.00 per gallon. E-85 is good up to 14 to 1 cr. or so.

Our highest easily available oxyginateds are E10 and occasionally I have seen 15. And currently at 1.10/gallon Can., that's perhaps equivalent to $2.92USd/gal US
Currently E85 is fleet only, so I have been told.I've never even seen an E85 bowser.
Now If I could find E85,locally,and if it was readily available; I would sure like to re-engineer my engine to burn it.But before I get excited about it, If it costs half as much, but I have to burn twice as much of it,..........I'd have to really think it over. But since it doesn't cost half as much up here, but rather more than 87E10 (87 averages maybe 1.15/liter annually, or $3.15US/USg); I'm in no hurry, cuz that would just drive my cost per mile waaay up..I'm a streeter.

In Oklahoma City, it not hard to get E85 (15% gasoline) now.
A year ago, not easy, but one gasoline company is now selling it and there may be 30 stations selling it here (I didn’t count them, only guessed on 30 – but should be close).
Two stations close to work and two stations close to home.

110 octane, if I recall correctly.

I don’t have any vehicles in my fleet that can consume it, so not paid much attention to it.

Here a.little something I've picked up on over the last few years, as long as it's 60 percent alcohol there's not much if any benefit to the 85 percent.

The benefit comes in when your putting 20 LBS of boust or higher to a 9 to 1 motor then there e-98 race fuel.

I know two guys with LS. Powered turbo cars that make 1200 RWHP on pump e-85.

The shop that does my dyno work has won two big e-85 compositions the last was a 408 Ford that made 800 hp , it was streetable.

I made a comment earlier about my 500 getting 3 mph looping arond town, that's what it did with race gas, 4.88 gears a lose converter, I'm hoping for the same with e-85, 4.10 gears and a converter that flashes about 3800 instead of 6000.
Olso the cam idles at 900 instead of 1500 rpm.

Cruising range 50 miles..lol

We broke the 500" on race gas and made made a pull or two then put the e85 carb on four pulls and used five gallon of e-85.

When I raced with this motor on race gas I ran 1/8 mile tracks and it would use more than a gallon a pas.

Now when put the little Ford on boost it will get a cam with 220 duration @ .50 and will be used as a daily driver on e-85, i can expect mid teen's for mpg..and 600 hp + @ wot.

At wot it will get about the same mpg as the 500 at wot...
Wot...wide open throttle
