All night rain, air temp 32, ground temp about -100 equals ice. Not any old ice, wet, shiny, perfectly smooth ice. Barely got out of the driveway and to the end of the street where I couldn't get moving again (it's a slight uphill grade). A car on the frontage road came around the curve about 5 mph and slid around in a circle. My brain said "screw this" (edited version
), backed up and pulled back into the garage. Called work and told them I'll be late. Guess I'll try it again in a couple hours and see if it's any better.
Worst part is, a high of 35 this morning and then falling temps to the single digits this evening. That doesn't help melt ice very well.
