The FMJ Weather Channel

All night rain, air temp 32, ground temp about -100 equals ice. Not any old ice, wet, shiny, perfectly smooth ice. Barely got out of the driveway and to the end of the street where I couldn't get moving again (it's a slight uphill grade). A car on the frontage road came around the curve about 5 mph and slid around in a circle. My brain said "screw this" (edited version ;) ), backed up and pulled back into the garage. Called work and told them I'll be late. Guess I'll try it again in a couple hours and see if it's any better.
Worst part is, a high of 35 this morning and then falling temps to the single digits this evening. That doesn't help melt ice very well.:(

Last week it was -30, the weekend mid 40s yesterday's single digits with humidity sucked!

We've got a heavy snowstorm going now, almost white out at times. It started at the perfect hour (4pm), just in time for the evening rush hours to start. Anything that still has the glare ice (like my driveway) from the weekend rain is just bleeping awesome with fluffy snow on top of the ice. Coefficient of friction is absolute zero. Prediction is for 4-6" tonight. Sigh..........................:( Still, it's better than -70 degree windchill like last week.

76 today , going to be 74 tomorrow. For gosh sakes its Feb 5...
Should be back to a high of 44 by saturday.

Of course, I spent 4 1/2 hours in the dentist office today and missed the whole day. Came home and napped for several hours for the drugs to wear off.

Now its getting dark and I'm coherant again.

So I'm saying it was a freezing day all day cause I was literally laying still under an a/c vent covered in a blanket sucking in oxygen and nitrous oxide trying not to shiver. I was cold all day even with the sweatshirt I wore to the event.

I am happy to report that nearly all my dental work is done. Just have to figure out how to pay for the implant I need. One of you guys needs to buy Darth-Car so I can hit Brian up for a loan.

(just kidding)

The reason I have a missing molar is, the price of an implant is, well,,,,, a whole bunch. I've gotten used to it being gone and since it isn't visible unless you look into my mouth (which I wouldn't recommend, lol), I just can't justify the cost (like $4,500 give or take a little).
I am so ready for 74..........................Heck, I'd settle for 54!

What the.............speaking of implants, there's an implant ad at the top of the screen. Sometimes you wonder.

+ 17 this morning, and I got COLD taking the boy to school this morning!

On top of the 7" we got Tuesday night, it's total white out right now with 6-10" predicted. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Should be all sorts of "fun" driving home from work this afternoon.

I had a appointment this morning at 930 when I was calling them to say I wasn't going anywhere in the snow they called me to say don't come. I don't try very hard any more.

I'll be making up for it on your behalf.
Have to go to the county seat of the county I live in and then turn around and drive east to the next county seat. Then back home.

I'll be making sure to use plenty of gas so you guys can stay home and not worry that the oil reserves are getting to high.

As of noon, it's +4 with a -20 to -30 windchill. Nice stiff breeze out of the north west. Always nice to get a crap load of fresh, fluffy snow and then 30 mph winds the next day. Not that it causes snow drifts or anything...……………………

It was a Jerry Jeff Walker kind of day ...

It was a cold kind of day here and even colder night. Well below zero now and WAY below zero wind chill......
A big downside to the horrible cold we had when the ground was still bare is, the frost is DEEP. Deep enough that my sewer laterals are frozen. We (a plumber and I) worked for 3 hours last evening trying to get them open, with no luck. His son is coming today at some point with what he called a jetter. Sounds like it uses high pressure hot water to open frozen shut sewer pipes. We had a hell of a time digging and chiseling out the clean outs, not to mention getting the caps off, both of which are in the yard near the house. Just glad I knew about where they are. Sigh.......................Not looking forward to the bill but, what are you going to do?
Come on spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, not hold it, lol! They came today with all sorts of fancy equipment and all is well again. The scope showed the pipe (PVC) broken at the clean out where it hooks to the sewer pipe outside next to the house. That's where the roots were getting in and restricting flow so,,,,,,,,everytime water went down, it would freeze a little thicker until it froze shut. It's all cleared out now and working better than it has in a loooooooong time. Soon as the ground isn't frozen solid, the digging will commence to fix the pipe, sigh............What the hell, it's only money, right? Pretty sure it got broken 6 feet down when a cement truck ran over the vertical clean out pipe back in 2002. Just took this long for the damage to cause problems.
At least it's a little warmer than last night being in the mid teens and the sun is shining, but it still sucks working outside.

Your lucky you can't put it down so far now, my sister had a new system put in about four years ago and it's just under ground. Its froze up two of the four years.

Nice up here in Manitoba, I’ve actually been to a few different spots this season for Snowmobiling. Get to the car soon before I go back to work.
